Kahlua Baileys cream. Baileys cocktail at home - recipe with photo

Irish liqueur Baileys (“Baileys”, “Beilis”) began to be produced relatively recently - in 1974, but it is difficult to find a person who has not tried it or at least not heard of it. The liqueur is based on the famous Irish whiskey and natural animal cream, as well as sugar, vanilla and some other ingredients. The delicate and perfectly balanced taste of the weak (17%) alcoholic drink is loved by many ladies, however, the stronger sex is not ashamed to admit that they definitely like this creamy liqueur. If you know how to drink Baileys correctly, it is almost impossible not to enjoy drinking it.

Varieties of Baileys liqueur

The Baileys liqueur family is represented by 4 varieties of drink. They differ in the presence of certain additives to the main composition.

  • Baileys the Original – has an original creamy taste; no additional flavoring agents are used in its production;
  • Baileys Mint Chocolate – made with the addition of mint and chocolate;
  • Baileys Creme Caramel – has a creamy caramel flavor;
  • Baileys Coffee – has a coffee flavor and is produced with the addition of coffee.

The most famous is the original Baileys, but its other varieties also have numerous fans.

Features of use

Being a dessert liqueur, Baileys is subject to the general rules for its use.

  • The optimal temperature for the drink is 18-20 degrees. If it happens that the bottle has warmed up to a temperature above room temperature, it is not customary to put it in the refrigerator. You can cool the drink by adding a couple of ice cubes to the glass or moving the bottle to a cool room. The first allows you to cool the liqueur quickly, but dilutes its taste; you can resort to the second only if you have at least a few hours left.
  • Baileys refers to digestifs - drinks that improve appetite and are served after meals. It is appropriate to offer liqueur with dessert. It is not served for lunch, as its sweet taste is disharmonious with the main dishes. Liqueur is also not used as an aperitif, as it can kill your appetite.
  • You can drink Baileys in its pure form, diluted with strong alcohol, along with coffee, or as part of cocktails. You cannot dilute cream liqueur with sour and carbonated drinks, as this will cause the cream to curdle, making the drink tasteless and unattractive in appearance. You can alternate coffee with liqueur or add Baileys directly to the cup of drink. In this case, sugar and cream are not added to coffee - liqueur successfully replaces both. Dilution with strong alcohol makes the liqueur more attractive to men. It goes well with whiskey and vodka.
  • For consumption in its pure form, Baileys is poured into small liqueur glasses, their capacity is 25-50 ml. When diluting liqueur with ice, choose wine glasses or martini glasses. Cocktails are poured into special cocktail containers. Shots are prepared in liqueur glasses or small glasses. Long drinks can be served in tumblers - short, wide glasses.

In order not to interrupt or spoil the taste of liqueur, you need to know not only how to drink it correctly, but also what is best to eat it with.

What to snack on Baileys

Almost all sweet dishes are suitable as a snack for Baileys liqueur, especially baked goods with coffee, chocolate, or vanilla cream. Cheesecake, Tiramisu and other desserts that include cream cheese go well with it. Shortbread and butter cookies are also good choices.

Baileys liqueur goes well with ice cream, butter and chocolate cream.

A good companion for cream liqueur is a fruit salad with whipped cream or yogurt. Its taste is especially harmonious when paired with strawberries and bananas.

If you are not a sweet tooth, you can snack on Baileys with nuts.

Chocolate is a win-win snack option.

You can drink Baileys without a snack.

The taste of the liqueur is well revealed in cocktails that appeal not only to the fair sex.

Making cocktails at home

In many different nightlife establishments and catering establishments, we are offered the same recipes for delicious mixes of Baileys, whiskey, juices with vodka and many other ingredients. If you study the composition of drinks, it turns out that you don’t need much talent to prepare them; to create such a delicate cocktail at home, you just need to know a few simple rules.

After such a “study” of the menu and cocktail cards, many lovers of alcohol with cream thought about their own career as a bartender practicing at home parties. Therefore, in this article we will open the curtain of secrecy and tell you recipes for preparing divine drinks with the legendary Irish liqueur.

In fact, everything is very simple; to make cocktails you only need a secret recipe for the sequence of mixing the components, the presence of all the necessary ingredients, as well as specialized utensils. The main thing, as it turns out, is an attribute that you can’t live without, a bartender’s tool, a shaker. Many will have to purchase it or ask friends, but your efforts for the goal will be worth it.

B-52

This cocktail, despite many analogues, has always had, has and will have a leading position in the drinks market. Ingredients needed to make B-52: Capitan Black or Kahula coffee liqueur, Baileys or Irish Cream, as well as Cointreau or Marie Brizard Grand Orange liqueur. At the same time, “B-52,” as many people think, does not contain whiskey. Remember that each of the listed ingredients requires 20 ml. For this cocktail, you will only need small elegant glasses of 100 ml. To create a real B-52 according to the classic recipe, you will have to try.

Now we will tell you step by step how to cook “B-52” at home. B-52 is a multi-layer drink. To do this, first pour Capitan Black liqueur into the bottom of the glass, then take a knife and pour Baileys with the “Cream Caramel” flavor over its blade, and add orange liqueur in the same way. The result should be a cocktail of three equal layers, which can only be consumed with an elegant straw.

This method of building a unique taste in the art of bartending is called “build” (from the English build - to build).

Masters of the art of bartending set fire to a real multi-layer “B-52” immediately after preparation and the client needs to quickly drink through a straw while the fire is burning in order to feel this drive, takeoff or explosion and adrenaline from the famous cocktail. Such a ritual is necessary to achieve the effect of a temperature difference in the drink; it is achieved through the sequence of testing the layers: at the bottom it is the coldest, then warmer, and on top there is a burning layer that is bitter due to the whiskey content in the liqueur.

Blue Hawaii

“Blue Hawaii” is a tropical mix with rum, liqueur, juice. According to legend, the famous drink was created by the talented American Harry Yee in 1957 and named it after the song by Leo Robin, which, of course, sang about the blue paradise of Hawaii.

To prepare a delicious cocktail of extravagant color at home you will need: exquisite Bacardi rum (20 ml), the main component is Blue Caracao liqueur (20 ml), Baileys cream liqueur (20 ml), as well as two juices - pineapple (60 ml) and lemon (30 ml). After you have made a mixture of the above ingredients, you need to load them into a shaker, immediately add ice and mix everything thoroughly.

The finished drink, bright blue in color, is poured into a tall, beautifully shaped glass. A cocktail of such a rich color will only suit the most exquisite carving (the art of decorating cocktails), this can include numerous slices of fruit and multi-colored umbrellas to give the drink a truly Hawaiian mood of carefree and relaxation. The best fruit supplements to use are cherries, baked or fresh orange slices, or a piece of pineapple.

It is customary to highlight it in the alcoholic bartending business, and we have even tried to cook it. And we remember that for many alcoholic cocktails this or that liqueur is simply an irreplaceable ingredient, since everything revolves around it. Or rather, it is mixed in our case. Today we will get acquainted with several recipes for cocktails with the famous and popular Baileys liqueur. Which, by the way, you can also try. And then use it when making mixed drinks.

The easiest cocktail with Baileys

This really is the simplest cocktail with only two ingredients – Baileys liqueur and crushed ice. But they call it quite pretentiously – “Ice Mix”. The cocktail is prepared using a blender, where you first need to place several large pieces of ice, then pour in fifty milliliters of Baileys liqueur and mix until the contents of the blender look more or less homogeneous. It is clear that a powerful blender is suitable for this. And then pour the mixture into a tall glass. Well, it really couldn’t be simpler, don’t you agree? And to make it not too simple, decorate the edge of the glass with a rim - it can be made of powdered sugar with vanilla flavor, or it can be made of powdered sugar with cocoa - in each case you will get your own note. By the way, once at one party I had to spot an interesting way of serving such a simple cocktail: the hostess asked each guest what flavor of the cocktail they preferred from those offered and poured the cocktail into a glass with the appropriate rim!

Cocktails with Baileys and coffee

These cocktails are perfect for real coffee lovers, because... Yes, simply because: a) the taste of your favorite coffee is present and b) they are cocktails and are very original in themselves.

1. Cocktail “Bailey's latte”. This cocktail is served in coffee cups, and large coffee cups at that. Pour twenty milliliters of espresso coffee into each, add fifty milliliters of Baileys liqueur, and then top up with boiled and cooled milk. The “cap” over the cocktail can be made from whipped milk foam, sprinkled with fine chocolate chips. It is best to make dark chocolate chips.

2. Cocktail “Coffee Kiss”. And for this mixed drink we take thick glass glasses. Carefully pour twenty milliliters of Baileys liqueur plus the same amount of Irish Cream plus forty milliliters of chocolate syrup into the prepared vessels, and then top each with cold black coffee – about one hundred milliliters per serving. We also decorate with a “cap” of whipped cream sprinkled with grated chocolate.

3. Irish cocktail with Baileys. This cocktail is called Irish because to prepare it, among other things, we need Irish whiskey. Throw a few pieces of ice into a shaker, pour in fifty milliliters of liquor, add twenty milliliters of whiskey and ten milliliters of strong chilled coffee. Shake vigorously and pour into glasses.

Banana smoothie with Baileys

Using a blender, mix equal proportions of Baileys liqueur, cream and banana liqueur plus half a ripe banana together in crushed ice. Pour into a wide glass. It’s also easy and, as always, delicious.

Vodka cocktail

Also easy to prepare, but very original cocktail. Of course, its strength will be higher and this should be taken into account. In a shaker with ice, shake a mixture of fifty milliliters of Baileys liqueur, ten milliliters of vodka - you need to take the best quality one - and fifteen milliliters of chocolate liqueur. Strain into a cocktail glass that has been pre-chilled. It is important to strain so that even small pieces of ice do not get into the vessel.

And the last recipe -

cocktail with Baileys liqueur and ice cream

We need forty milliliters of Baileys, fifty grams of any ice cream - but vanilla, cream or chocolate is best - and one hundred milliliters of milk. Place all ingredients in a blender and beat thoroughly. Cocktail glasses can be decorated with a rim, and the rim can be different depending on what kind of ice cream was used - see the tip above in the text. 🙂
