Barefoot Countess recipes. Lemon Chicken by Barefoot Countess

Have you ever asked yourself why going to a luxury restaurant is so expensive? Not only because of the exotic ingredients, but also because of the chef's reputation. They can make a lot of money managing the kitchen of high-end restaurants or opening their own. If a chef has a corporate identity, his own cookbooks, TV shows, then he becomes mega-popular, and his capital is able to exceed one million dollars. Do you need proof? Please - here are the top richest celebrity chefs.

In the luxurious Bellagio and beyond

Opening our top ten is Texas-born Todd English, a chef with a net worth of $11 million. He received a good professional education (graduated from the Culinary Institute of America) and built his own culinary kingdom. He has more than a dozen luxury restaurants, including Beso, which serves Latin American cuisine (co-owner of the establishment is actress Eva Longoria). But the most famous restaurants in English are called Olives, the first one (in Boston) opened in 1989, and now there is one in Las Vegas (at the Bellagio Hotel). The chef also has his own show - “Food Trip with Todd English”, in which Todd, along with the audience, penetrates the secrets national cuisines different countries.

Italian cuisine of the highest class

Since 2011, Mario Batali "settled" in the TV program of the ABC channel "The Chew" ("Chewing"). This is a unique TV personality! He is unassuming in his clothing and prefers to wear his "happy" fleece vest and shorts. But at the same time, Mario has money - chickens do not peck (13 million dollars). Batali managed to raise Italian cuisine to a completely different, higher level. His restaurants are scattered not only across America (California, Las Vegas, New York), but also around the world, including Hong Kong and Singapore.

Goddess of home cooking

British Nigella Lawson can be called a goddess home cooking. Her look and magnetic voice are just the tip of the iceberg, she is actually a very talented cook. Born into a wealthy family (her father was a cabinet minister under Margaret Thatcher), Nigella was not satisfied with the role of a sexy rich bum. She has written several books (not only on cooking) and has been the star of several shows, including "Simply Nigella", "Nigella Express", "Nigellissima". That's where the 15 millionth state of the TV personality came from. Although she doesn't like to be called a celebrity chef (Lawson has no special education, she cooks "for fun"), we will still include her in our rating.

"Scandalous" Paula

With the name of the other "Tele-Provisions", the floors of Dean, the scandal is connected.: She was fired after ten years old work on the channel "Food Network" because of the accusations of racist statements (the presenter used the word "Negro" in America). The propagandist of the gastronomy of the South of the USA was not at a loss and opened her own culinary channel. If you have 16 million dollars "for your soul", you can afford this! Paula's recipes were repeatedly criticized for the abundance of fat, salt and sugar (by the way, she herself is a diabetic), which did not interfere with Dean's career, which was invited to the jury of the popular Top Chef and MasterChef programs.

Barefoot Countess

Since 2002, Ina Garten has hosted her cooking show Barefoot Contessa (named after the grocery store Ina owned). Garten did not study to be a cook, she gathered all her knowledge by gaining experience from others and peeping recipes in cookbooks. She worked at the White House, but left that place to open a shop in New York and then turned to writing books. Now the store is closed - 68-year-old Aina, with $44 million, puts all her energy into TV shows.

Creole recipes

Emeril Lagassi, a graduate of the prestigious culinary school, has an estimated net worth of $50 million. This chef appeared on television in the early 1990s and now hosts his gastronomy show on Cooking Channel (the program is now in its 4th season). Emeril calls his cooking style "New Orleans", he uses Louisiana ingredients and is inspired by Creole cuisine. Lagassi has 13 restaurants, all bearing his name, so if you want to look in, you won’t mix it up!

oprah winfrey culinary teleworld

Rachel Ray is the Oprah Winfrey of the culinary teleworld. Now Ray has not one, but four programs of her own. Moreover, two of them ("Rachel Ray" and "30 Minutes Meals") received the Daytime Emmy Award for the best talk show (three wins out of eleven nominations). Rachel earns about $25 million every year from shows, cookbooks and ads, and her net worth is $60 million. Ray is distinguished by a special style - she does everything easily and quickly, one might say, playfully. This style and her smile are inspiring, it's not for nothing that Forbes included Rachel in the top 100 most influential celebrities in the world.

Pak Empire

Wolfgang Puck's mother worked as a pastry chef, so he was introduced to the world of cooking at a young age. It was then that he decided that he wanted to dedicate his life to this sacred rite. Unlike colleagues from this rating, Pak does not have his own show. But how can an official caterer for the Academy Awards have free time? True, he was a guest on many programs, including "Top Chef", "MasterChef" and "Iron Chef America". The culinary enterprise Wolfgang Puck Companies (including 25 gourmet restaurants) brings the owner a good profit, so that his capital reached $ 75 million.

Hell of a talent!

If you've seen Gordon Ramsay's "Hell's Kitchen" program, then you might think that the chef is ruthless and only does what he sends curses to negligent participants? No, this is just a show, in fact, he is quite an adequate person. Ask the kids who competed on MasterChef Junior! They love Gordon. The Scot Ramsay wanted to become a famous football player, but in 1984 he was injured and hung up his boots. He returned to his studies and studied hotel and restaurant business. Now Gordon owns 118 million dollars and three dozen restaurants around the world, and the very first one (opened in 1998 in London) was awarded three Michelin stars.

Legendary "Naked Chef"

The manner of easy communication with the audience, which was demonstrated by the Briton Jamie Oliver, and the popularization of "live" home cooking have borne fruit. With a net worth of $235 million, he is at the top of the list of the richest celebrity chefs. Numerous author's shows (The Naked Chef, Jamie's Kitchen, Jamie's Chef, Jamie's Home, Jamie's Comfort Food, and so on) are incredibly loved by viewers. Admit it, you also watched an issue or two of The Naked Chef, Jamie is such a cutie! Today MBE James Oliver has five restaurant franchises. In 2002, he opened a non-profit restaurant in London, where 18 unemployed young people are trained annually.

This is the recipe of the magnificent Ina Garten. Her husband simply loves chicken, and for many years Aina manages to delight him with excellent dishes from this seemingly ordinary bird.

It is her recipe for chicken with lemon that is very popular in the states. And this is not surprising. Affordable ingredients and simple steps give a great result.

The chicken turns out beautiful, incredibly juicy and tender. It is very difficult to resist and not eat it whole in one sitting. Even if there are only two of you for one chicken.

INGREDIENTS:
for 4 servings

Whole chicken - 1 pc
Carrots (large) - 1 pc.
Onion - 2 pcs
Garlic - 2 heads
Lemon - 1 pc.
Butter - 30 gr
Olive oil - 1 tbsp
Sugar - 1 tbsp
Salt, pepper - to taste

Peel onions and carrots and chop coarsely. Peel one head of garlic and cut into cloves.

Cut the lemon lengthwise into 6 pieces.

In a large baking dish, combine the onion, carrot, garlic and half of 3 lemon slices.

Salt, add a tablespoon of sugar and olive oil. Mix well, distributing spices and oil over all vegetables.

Wash chicken and dry thoroughly with paper towels or paper towels.

Salt inside the abdomen. We also send the remaining 3 slices of lemon and a head of garlic there. Garlic must first be washed and cut across.

Tie the chicken legs together with kitchen string. This is necessary so that the chicken retains its shape and juiciness during baking.

At this stage, we ask all carefully watching the figure to leave the room. Evenly coat the entire skin of the chicken with melted butter.

Salt and season the outside of the chicken.

Wrap the tips of the wings back. So they don't burn.

Lay the chicken on top of the prepared vegetables, breast side up. Bake on the lower tier of the oven at 200 degrees for about 1 hour.

Remove chicken from oven and immediately cover with foil. Let stand 10-15 minutes.

This time is needed so that all the juices soak into the chicken flesh, and do not flow out at the first cut.

Ina Garten is a cook, writer and charming TV presenter known by many as the Barefoot Countess.

As a chef, Aina is serious about two things: choosing quality fresh produce and saving time when preparing food.

The talent of the Barefoot Countess to cook quickly, but at the same time tasty and varied, is undoubtedly recognized by Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey and Patricia Wells. They and many other celebrities have been tasters more than once great dishes Ainu.

From analyst to gastronomic expert

Aina never dreamed of becoming a chef. She is an economist by education, at one time she even worked as an analyst in the White House.

Her love for food began after a trip to Paris. It was in France that she enjoyed visiting the markets, where the cult of high-quality and fresh food reigned.

Upon her return to the United States, Aina studied French and English cookbooks with interest, experimented with pleasure on the stomachs of her friends and relatives, and perfected her recipes.

And the kitchen "won": Aina quit her job at the White House and decided to become a gastronomic expert. After seeing an advertisement in the newspaper for the sale of a grocery store, Aina, despite her lack of experience in the food industry, bought it. The store was called "Barefoot Contessa" (Barefoot Countess).
When I saw the store, I immediately fell in love! I had no experience in the food industry, but I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to do! The fact that Aina coped with the new task became clear a year later. The store left its cramped island of 37 square meters and moved into a larger room - 280 square meters. The store specialized in high-end quality food: here you could find fresh lobsters, the best cheeses, caviar and, of course, ready meals from Aina.

The store received acclaim from the press and local celebrities. Regular customers included Steven Spielberg and Lauren Bacall.

Aina ran the store for almost 20 years, after which she sold it and went on vacation for six months in search of culinary inspiration. And she found him...

From Entrepreneur to Emmy Award

In 1999, Aina's first book, The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, was published, where best recipes that once made Barefoot Contessa so popular. The book became a bestseller: in the first year it sold over 100,000 copies, which is in principle atypical for cookbooks.
Writing a cookbook has become one of the most interesting things I have done professionally. And the feedback from readers has been amazing. Following in the early 2000s, Aina released two more books Barefoot Contessa Parties and Barefoot Contessa Family Style.

Aina's books favorably differed from competitors by a large number of large photographs ready meals and a simple presentation of the cooking process. Her books were more like fashion magazines than the serious encyclopedic Talmuds that were customary to see at that time.

After the success of the books, Aina was actively invited as a guest on television shows, and in 2002 the British channel Food Network got the "countess" as a host and made her own show of the same name Barefoot Contessa for her.

The producers of the Food Network did not fail with the choice of the star. In 2005, Barefoot Contessa was nominated for the first Emmy Award for Best Cooking Show, and in 2009, Ina won an Emmy for Best Cooking Show Host.

In recent years, Ina has released several more cookbooks Barefoot in Paris, Barefoot Contessa at Home, Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics (the show of the same name is now on the Food Network channel), How Easy is That, Foolproof, Make It Ahead.

Thus, the recognizable brand "Barefoot Countess" was finally formed. And he began to actively conquer the world.

Pantry of the Barefoot Countess

Like a supporter quality products and a tireless entrepreneur, Aina could not stay away from the production of her own line of products.

Since 2006, the Barefoot Contessa brand has been producing preserves, marinades, sauces and dry mixes for cakes. All of them are the basis for the Barefoot Countess's most popular dishes: coconut cupcakes, oatmeal buns with maple syrup, mango chutney and lemon cream.

The entire line of goods is quite expensive and is sold only in upscale stores.

  1. Aina studied well at school and adored the exact sciences. Now, it helps her in cooking. Ina writes her recipes in the same way she solves equations: clearly, precisely and accurately.
  2. Aina met her husband Geoffrey at the age of 15. After 5 years they got married and still live in perfect harmony.
  3. "Countess" knows how to fly a plane. When her husband fought in Vietnam, Aina took piloting lessons to distract herself from bad thoughts.
  4. Ina's friends include Taylor Swift, Neil Patrick Harris and Wolfgang Puck.
  5. by the most popular dish The Barefoot Countess among her admirers is the Roasted Beetroot Salad with Cheese.

Ina Garten's recipes

Below are Ina Garten's recipes that I have tried in my kitchen. All of them have passed the strict taste control of my relatives and friends.
